Schmodest Shmouse / Schmollege

So I finally finished collecting all the garbage(ie: Trash, Rubbish) needed to send in my application for admission to Baptist College of Florida. If all goes well, ill send it out tomorrow morning. I feel accomplished. My uncle told me that getting admission into college is the hardest part...

Been listening to alot of Modest Mouse recently. They really are an acquired taste though. Um. Like an investment almost... The album called 'Good News for people who love Bad news' is the most accessible of their albums so Ill put a song from that album down below for you all to listen to.

(Pretty cool band pic except for that guy second from the left... He looks weird...)

If business picks up at the store, and im able to get money, I should be getting a new laptop by the end of the week. One of those fancy new netbooks =) its a 10 inch. Its called the 'eeepc' by asus. Now that looks great in typing but im not sure how to pronounce it. I dont think i wanna try...

Two words...Paranormal. Activity (Cue generic horror track, with lots of shrill violin noise). Some people I know cringe at the very mention of this horror thriller. I just saw it last night and I must say I was not impressed. Now if you know me, you would know that I do NOT watch horror movies on a regular basis. I like Final destination, and maybe saw, but thats about it. I dont like horror movies with a main villain character, they just seem sorta cheesy. Ok, but Paranormal was just rediculous. I mean, im not gonna say it wasnt scary. I was pretty scared. But looking back at it, it was like... 'Mehh'...

Realizations

Its been a few days since my last post so here is a list of some of the realizations ive made.

  • Sunny day Real Estate is a fantastic band
  • I could be on the computer for 3 hours, but when I try to make a blog entry, every distraction ever invented comes at me.
  • What good is a Hess gift card if there arent any Hess gass stations within 100 miles...
  • Yellow Tortex picks are amazing. Even better than the red ones!
  • Facebook says I have like a trillion friends, but right now, I feel I could use another
  • Its getting late, tomorrow is sunday (no fusion =( )
  • Its looks retarded to end a parenthetical statement with a sad face or smilie
  • Sometimes, people just dont want to talk to you
  • I dont have alot of money...=(
  • Im going to see Phantom of the Opra broadway on Feb 2nd!(Thats why I have no money)
  • Did I mention im tired?

Ok. Have a lovely new year,

Still Sick (and shameless advertisement)

Still sick. 2 and a half days and counting. Only today, im going in to work... ...Ugh.

I dont want this post to be over, even though I already got my point across, So.
Music! Last week I found this band called Yeasayer. Amaaazing. Ill link them at the bottom so you can get a taste, but I highly recommend them.

P.S If anyone is looking for a Fulltone Fulldrive(w/ mosfet) at a cheap price, let me know. Gigged with it 3 times, and it doesnt really complement my tone. It is ok to advertise here right? Its my blog!

Risky Business

The game of Risk. World domination. Bright colored tiny soldiers and 5 dice. What an amazing idea for a game! If you have ever played this game with me and my friends, you may realize how intense it gets and how literal we take it. We get pretty nerdy with it. Its such a fun game though! This time, I conquered all of N America and some of eastern Asia. Right when I begin to move the troops from Mexico into S America, one of our players had to go. Bummer. It was a winning strategy im sure!

(This is not me. This is, however, what I look like when I play risk!)

So it was a fun fun saturday filled with blocks of wood, elvish ears, fish in a bottle and world domination... Doesnt get much better than that!

One of those days

Today. Hmm. Where to start?
Thanks to me setting the alarm wrong, I ended up waking up to a text message from my co-worker asking where I was. I was 8 minutes late. Ugh. In case you havent been in that position, it really has this negative effect on your day. Like a large black cloud raining on your day...

(Ahhh There it is... This beauty is one of the most amazing guitars my eyes have seen. Gretch Duo Jet... Envy? Possibly. Love? Absolutely.)

I was, however, able to turn around this gloomy day by listening to this song by Animal Collective. Its about a guy who just wants to provide for his family and give them clothes and food and just live life without worrying about social status. Thats a good lesson I think people need to hear.

Thought Cloud

Im still learning the ins-and-outs of blogspot so I just deleted the entire post I had made... Ill try to recreate with as much vigor and intrigue as the last one. Here goes:

You might be wondering why I chose the name I chose. And if your not, i'll tell you anyways. I wanted this site to be that place where my thoughts go after they leave my mind. So I should be able to come back here and read this in 20 years and completely surprise myself. We'll see.

Now then. Im very passionate about music. Its like, number 2 on my (hypothetical)list of my favorite things in the world. Luckily, with technology the way it is today, So much good music has been coming out. With maybe 20 bucks in equipment and a mediocre computer, one can easily record a song and publish it to the internet where potentially millions could listen. A feat that maybe isnt so great in a lot of ways, but there is a good side as well.
2009 Has been fantastic for the indy music scene. Its yielded many new styles and fusion styles, most notably, the 'chill wave' scene including bands like 'washed out' and 'neon indian'. Sounds like really wild '80s acid pop.
Ill leave you all with a taste of that.

Starting a blog...

So. Here I am, sitting on my bed typing up a blog.

I guess the reason why im starting a blog is because my other creative outlets are getting blocked up. Well, ive always heard its good for you to right out your thoughts and ideas in a journal, so consider this my journal... My one tangible(?) gift to the internet.

...Gift?

So. If your reading this, which you must be, youll find I use the word 'So' alot. Dont be alarmed, I just have a sortof fond appreciation for this word.
