Yeahhh... ITs been a little while since my last update. So whats up guys?
Its been an epic few weeks in music sporting new Jaga Jazzist, Efterklang, and Eluvium! If your following the stylings of young matthew robert cooper aka Eluvium, he has 3 amazing full length ambient albums. In the ambient business, I can pretty much say he has exhausted all sources of inspiration but His new album, 'similies' sports The national-esque vocals. Its a step in a whole new direction for Elvium, but it works and I wish him the best.
Jaga jazzist still has their eeeepic spastic chihuahua Drum lines and their classic woodwind sound and still have their jazzy-esque(Yeah I like adding esque to words...) style mixed with Kraut-Gaze-Pop-Dance-House. Always teetering on the edge of nine trillion different genres. Song composition is good, but 'What We Must' still has my heart as best album from this band.
Im also listening to Beach house, and Grizzly bear among others.

G.A.S.
Gear Acquisition Syndrome.
The unshaken need to buy more gear. And lots of it. Like Delay!
...
Yeah lots of Delay...
And Reverb...
Funny though, the word reverb isnt recognize as a real word by this spellcheck firefox has built in.
But yeah. Delay. It was in my dream the other day. Yeah my dreams are chock full of delay. Even in my battle scenes in my dreams. Like I was fighting someone with a whip, and this whip she had, had a dotted eighth delay on it. Warm analog delay on a whip.
So about GAS.

Heres my potential rig. You know, for when I get famous. It could happen.
Thats all for today.

Dream Journal
So I have official started a dream journal. It has 2 entries and is really lame... My dreams suck so far. One consisted of driving down the road, and the other was just me staring at a toy airplane... Im so boring.

You asked, I Came through! Here you go!
And by 'You asked', I mean: You dont really care.
and by 'I came through', I mean: I found this sweet video.
Props whoever you are. I salute you.

How to Listen to music - Part 1
Hello everyone. This is the first of a series im going to start called How to listen to music
Now then. We all listen to music everyday. Whether it be cleaning the house, or driving around town or before you sleep at night. But are we actually listening to it? I mean really listening and experiencing it?
Ok, Here we go. I would recommend you start by finding somewhere to listen. Like a comfy cosy spot perhaps that you sit in to watch TV or where you usually spend free time. Get a hot cup of tea(or coffee if thats what your into) and get relaxed. Youll be amazed at how much you like it.
Next, pick out a CD. The reason im saying CD, is because they are (usually)arranged in such a way to be one cohesive movement. If you get a mixtape of your favorite songs, there wont be any flow or 'theme' if you will. Try to find something new, that you have never heard before. Or maybe something you havent heard in a while.
No music is inherently superior to any other. Listen to whatever you like. The value of music is what it feels like, and this is something you alone experience.
One last tip for lesson one - Stick with it!
If you skip a song, even if you genuinely just dont like it, your missing out. Try to listen for nuances you didnt hear before.

Vacation or Church Music
Face down this carpet tastes like coffee grounds ground into my face now and every angles covered with just another... band aid.
A little bit of relient k's witty lyrical musings. Thanks to a friends facebook status update, these lyrics have been in my head all day.
So lets see. Im typing this from the church mac-book on vacation with the fam in kissimee at a music conference. Its pretty sweet though. They have a huge show room with tons of demos including a TC electronics stand. Unfortunately they werent demoing the nano-delay or nano-reverb =(. They did have this cool vocal harmony processor though. Anyway, they also had a ton of lights for small venues/churches and a company that specializes in manufacturing and installing proffesional grade lighting for enormous venues.
Theres also tons of choir stuff. Its amazing though, how 98% of every choir song ive heard, was ripped off. Like chris tomlin, or lincoln bruister stuff. Heck, one guy said his next project was rearranging the ENTIRE casting crowns album into choir music. Thats a joke if you ask me. Wheres all the original stuff? Im against using too much of other peoples music if you couldnt tell. I realize that being in a worship band basically requires me to have to play everyone elses music. I am aware of that... Hmm. Worship needs a change if you ask me. What if... Every church wasnt aloud to play other churchs music for a month... Heck even a week... No hillsong (gasp)... Oh nevermind what Am I thinking... haha
